Public warned of new Akyat Bahay gang modus

CITY OF SAN FERNANDO — The Pampanga police led by investigation division chief Arnold Palomo warned the public on a new modus operandi of Akyat Bahay gang in robbing homes and victimizing hapless citizens.
Investigators said Wednesday that the gang is poisoning dogs using lannate insecticide before entering houses.
This, they said, was discovered after suspects robbed the home of Christian David, 42, of Minalin.
In his report to Police Provincial Director Edgardo Tinio, Minalin police chief Diosdado Bamba said three packs of the deadly insecticide was found in the possession of a suspect, one Zerdan Fortaleza, who was cornered by police in the robbery attempt.
Together with the insecticide, police also confiscated three short firearms, a bolt cutter and the suspected getaway vehicle, a white Nissan Escapade (POB 165). Other suspects fled in different directions, Bamba said in the report.
Two of the short firearms, a caliber .38 snub nose revolver and a 9-mm pistol, were believed stolen from Benny Magpayo of Lourdes, Minalin, last February 2.
“They could be the same group responsible for poisoning about 33 dogs overnight along a stretch from Palawe in San Fernando to Cabetican, Bacolor where they burglarized a dormitory. We urge people to be vigilant and report to us incidents like this so we can put a stop to this Akyat Bahay gang robberies,” investigators said. (Jovi T. De Leon)
