Lawmaker pledges help for town’s covered court construction

CITY OF SAN FERNANDO — Representative Aurelio “Dong” Gonzales Jr. (3rd district) said Wednesday he will be funding the construction of a covered court at Madapdap Resettlement in Mabalacat town for the use of displaced residents of Bacolor.
Gonzales, who visited the resettlement area over the weekend, said the existing basketball court needs to be converted into a covered court to better serve local residents who may use it for their social events and sports activities.
“However, I have asked the barangay captain of Dapdap, Mabalacat and the Barangay Tinajero of Bacolor to make a joint resolution on this matter and inform local officials of the plan so that it gets the proper approval,” Gonzales said.
Meanwhile, barangay chief Armando Rivera of Barangay Dapdap and Onofre Regala of Barangay Tinajero expressed their approval over the move, adding that the project will not only benefit settlers from Bacolor but also the other residents of the resettlement area.
“This project will also give us the chance to host more community activities even if it rains. The project will also strengthen our social activities and with the project as a focal point for any gathering,” Regala said.
Both village chiefs thanked Gonzales and added that they will work for the creation of a joint resolution for the approval of the project.
