Pampanga chosen as model on children protection

CITY OF SAN FERNANDO – An international organization has chosen the province of Pampanga as a model in advocating the protection and welfare of children and women.
Governor Lilia Pineda, with the help of Consuelo Foundation, earlier institutionalized the country’s first-ever province-wide Child Abuse Prevention and Intervention Network (Capin).

“Dito lang nakapag-mainstream ang Capin kaya ang Pampanga ang gagawing modelo ng foundation para sa ISO Accreditation. Naniniwala kami na papasa sa international standard ang naging implementation ng programa sa lalawigang ito,” Costales said.
It can be recalled that the Provincial Government allocated at least P5 million to ensure the success of the implementation of Capin.
To further bolster its province-wide implementation, the provincial legislative body enacted Ordinance No. 547 series of 2012 or the Comprehensive Welfare Code for the Children of the Province of Pampanga.
Aside from this, the Provincial Government also managed to establish a group of volunteer lawyers to provide free legal assistance for abused children.
This came along with the creation of crisis centers and child and women protection units in every district hospital.
Costales noted that the Pineda administration has been supportive with program from its inception.
“Governor Pineda is very supportive of Capin that made it possible for the program to reach every town and barangay of the province,” he said.
“Talagang tinututukan ni governor ang programa. Lagi siyang nagtatanong kung ano na ang status ng implementation nito sa mga munisipyo at gusto niya lagi kaming nagpi-present ng accomplishment report,” Costales added.
