2 men arrested in shabu lab raid

CAMP OLIVAS — Two men, including a Chinese national, were arrested Wednesday in a raid at a suspected kitchen-type shabu laboratory in Sta. Monica village in Sta. Rita town.
Armed with a search warrant issued by a local court, operatives of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) swooped down a two-storey house located near the Sta. Rita village hall.
Chinese national Ali Ang and certain Maru Kassan were arrested during the raid, said PDEA Central Luzon Director Roybel Sanchez. However, Ang’s live-in partner, Mylene, was not in the house when operatives arrived.
Various chemicals and tools used in making shabu, as well as two grams of the illegal substance were recovered, Sanchez said.
The PDEA official said Ang and Mylene were arrested earlier in a raid at their kitchen-type shabu laboratory in Cotabato City in 2009.
The couple has been jailed for possession of a kilo of shabu during the said raid, but they were freed for unknown reason, Sanchez said. (Ric Sapnu)
