Aeta woman attacked anew by same Clark worker

MABALACAT — Exactly a month after she was allegedly attacked by a male employee of the Mimosa Leisure Resort, an Aeta woman reported to police that the same suspect, together with his wife, again physically assaulted her as she was carrying her one-year-old grandchild at the Marcos Village within Clark Freeport.
Police Officer 3 Ramon Cruz Jr., chief investigator of the Mabalacat police, identified the victim as Josephine Fajardo, a resident of Marcos Village. Fajardo is better known among her fellow Aetas by her maiden name Josephine Cosme.
After Cruz asked the Mabalacat District Hospital to provide his office with a copy of the results of the tests on injuries sustained by Fajardo, hospital attending physician Dr. Jeniffer Joyce Asuncion said the victim had injuries on her left chest.
Teary-eyed Fajardo showed local journalists her injuries, as well as the rip on the shoulder of her dress as a result of the alleged attack.
She said she was carrying her one-year-old grandchild as she was walking on her way to the Clark Development Corp. (CDC) around 8 a.m. when the suspect, identified as Mimosa employee Ferdinand Manaois, and his wife who was not immediately identified, suddenly mauled her.
“The wife held on to my hair at the back, while her husband hit me several times on the face and left shoulder. I could not even defend myself because I had to protect the child I was holding,” she said.
The attack, she said, was apparently provoked by her pending complaint before the barangay chairman of Marcos Village with regard to an assault on her by Manaois last Nov. 7.
A medical report prepared by Dr. Clemencita Dobles of the CDC medical facility indicated that Cosme sustained contusions on her right cheek and other injuries during the Nov. 7 attack.
Fajardo, who stands 4 feet and 11 inches, said she survived the first attack by running away from Manaois.
Fajardo, who is separated from her husband, supports her family by doing assorted odd jobs at Clark. (Reynaldo G. Navales)
