Hausland builds community for Hanjin shipyard workers

CASTILLEJOS, Zambales–Vice-President and Urban Development Coordinating Council (HUDDC) Chairman Jejomar Binay led the inauguration ceremonies of the Hanjin Village on Saturday here.

The village is an exclusive housing development for some 3,000 Hanjin shipyard workers with the Fiesta Communities Inc. as the developer..
Binay also led the turn-over of keys to the first 300 homeowners of the new community.

Binay said he is welcoming the project as it provides low cost and affordable housing to Filipinos.
The vice president was joined by Hanjin-Philippines President Ahn Jin Kiu and Zambales Gov. Hermogenes Ebdane, Jr.

Ahn said the project is part of the corporate social responsibility of Hanjin.
The Fiesta Communities, Inc. is an affiliate company of Hausland Development Corporation.

The developer established itself as the leader in socialized and low cost housing development in the region by developing projects in Pampanga (Angeles, Mabalacat and Porac), Tarlac and Olongapo.

Fiesta communities Inc. has received several awards including the 1st Kabalikat sa Pabahay, 2003 Developer of the year, 2006 CREBA Developer of the Year in the field of low cost housing, Go Negosyo’s Most Inspiring Pampanga Entrepreneur and 2007 Ernst and Young Realty and Construction Entrepreneur.

While Hanjin has put the Philippines to 4th place among the largest shipbuilding countries in the world due to its successful shipyard operations.
Hanjin has also poured in US$1.7 billion worth of investment since 2006.

In 2008, the shipbuilding company purchased a 30-hectare property in Nagbunga, Castillejos, Zambales to provide the housing requirement of its more than 20,000 skilled workers.

In 2012, Fiesta communities Inc. was chosen as the developer of the project.

Among the amenities in the village which are normally found in high prized subdivisions are gated main and cluster entries, concrete paved roads, underground drainage, fenced perimeter walls, social hall, basketball court, play areas, bus terminal to ferry workers to and from Hanjin, commercial areas and landscaped parks.

Hanjin is also donating a 9-classroom school building which is expected to open before the upcoming school year. ●Froilan E. Magtoto
