Labung is Senior Board Member

CITY OF SAN FERNANDO – Third District Board Member Ferdinand “Dinan” Labung ranked first among all the Provincial Board members in the province of Pampanga, making him the senior board member.

Labung, who served as board member in his district from 1998 to 2004, was again elected in the recent May 13 elections with a commanding 119,631 votes or a high percentage of 36.66 percent.

The third district of Pampanga has 326,362 registered voters from the towns of Arayat, Sta. Ana, Mexico, Bacolor, and the City of San Fernando.

Documents obtained by Sun.Star Pampanga from the office of Lawyer Fernando Cot-om, provincial election officer, revealed that Labung was followed by fourth district Board Member Ric Yabut with 111,167 votes or 33.53 percent, while third district Board Member Rosve Henson ranked third with 106,568 votes or 32.65 percent.

Labung, who is an engineer by profession, is the owner of Lucky Star Construction, project director of Senator Antonio Trillanes and the campaign manager of Vice Governor-elect Dennis “Delta” Pineda.

During his two terms as Board Member (1998-2004), Labung was the chairman of the Committee on Public Works and Committee on Education.

One of Labung’s pieces of legislation is a resolution asking the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) to construct pedestrian overpasses at the Dolores junction, Sindalan in front of Villa Julita and Coca-Cola plant to abate the occurrence of vehicular accidents and to save lives of pedestrians. The said overpasses were later constructed by the DPWH.

According to reports gathered by Sun.Star Pampanga, Labung is the first board member from the 3rd District of Pampanga who became senior board member.
In a telephone interview with Labung, the senior board member said that he is very thankful to his leaders and supporters for making him not only number one in the 3rd District but number one in the entire Province of Pampanga.

“Malaki ang utang na loob ko sa mga kababayan natin sa bayan ng Arayat, Sta. Ana. Mexico, Bacolor, at siyudad San Fernando dahil sa lahat ng mga lugar na ito ay naging No. 1 tayo, at ngayon naman hindi lang tayo pinalad na maging No. 1 sa distrito natin, tayo rin ang No. 1 sa buong probinsyang Kapampangan, sa inyong lahat na tumulong at naniwala sa atin asahan ninyo ang tuloy tuloy na serbisyo publiko hindi lamang sa tersera distrito kundi sa buong probisya sa tulong ng atin butihin Gobernadora at bise Gubernador,” Labung said.

In can be recalled that Labung, during his first and second term as board member, initiated the construction of foot bridges and had a weekly people’s day with his constituents. He also had hundreds of scholars in high school and college.

Labung is married to Calibutbut (Bacolor) barangay chief Marie Labung and they are blessed with five children, namely: Marie Joyce, Lucy Ferdinand, Marifer Ann, Joana Marie, and Diana Marie.
