Santos said the suspect, during the investigation, admitted taking the child to his nipa hut, covering her face and tying her hands with plastic.
Bakunawa told police he tried to rape the victim but she fought back. He claimed the victim fell down a wooden bed and lost consciousness during their struggle.
The suspect said he did not succeed in raping the girl and only satisfied himself, then threw her at the Maasim River, which is just few meters away from the suspect’s house.
He did not say if the victim was just unconscious or already dead at this point.
The victim’s body was recovered at the said river, both hands tied at her back, with no underwear. Her mouth was also covered with plastic.
Earlier, the girl’s mother went to village officials to report her missing daughter.
Barangay officials together with the barangay watchmen formed a group to search for the girl in Barangay Vizal San Pablo and adjacent barangays.
Upon questioning several neighbors, a witness revealed that the victim was seen walking with the suspect towards the nipa hut where the suspect resides.
Upon learning the information, the barangay officials with the victim’s mother immediately went to the nipa hut where they saw a blue headband which belonged to the victim.
A thorough search inside the nipa hut yielded a pair of slippers which also belonged to the victim.
A case of murder has been filed against the suspect before the Provincial Prosecutor’s Office here. (Herbert P. Mapiles of Sun.Star Pampanga/Sunnex)
