24,000 jobs available at Independence Day job fair

TWENTY-FOUR thousand positions are available for jobseekers during the two-day Independence Day job fair at the Rizal Park in Manila.
This was announced by the Department of Labor and Employment (Dole), saying it has already contracted 113 companies for the event during the weekend.

Of the figure, 83 are local employers while 20 are land-based and sea-based international crewing agencies, the Dole said in a statement, adding that the event will be held at the left side of the lagoon at the Rizal Park from 8 a.m. until 4 p.m.
All companies are expected to offer 14,000 local vacancies and 10,000 overseas opportunities those looking for jobs.
These positions include branch/area managers, cashiers, merchandisers, brand specialists, sales/accounting/marketing staff and consultants, and HR/admin staff, dining personnel, kitchen staff, bartenders, cook, maintenance crew, food and beverage managers, researchers, medical representatives, pharmacists, nutritionists/dieticians, and massage therapists, copywriters and products specialists.
These companies are looking for academic coordinators, computer teachers, and computer laboratory assistants, fashion/interior designer/merchandisers, architects, graphic artists/designers, and web developers, safety and site engineers, computer technicians, drivers, heavy equipment mechanics, janitors, and electricians, IT staff, IT leads and project managers, system administrators, payroll masters, and call center/BPO customer service representatives and call center agents.
Ten government agencies which will also be participating in the event are expected to offer more than a thousand government positions.
These agencies include the Departments of Social Welfare and Development, Department of Transportation and Communications, Philippine Coast Guard, Philippine National Police, Armed Forces of the Philippines, Philippine National Railways, Philippine Commission on Women, Civil Aeronautics Board, Light Rail Transit Authority, and the Civil Service Commission.
“The celebration of the nation’s independence is also a timely occasion for the DOLE to unchain the jobless from the shackles of unemployment by facilitating workers’ and employers’ search for jobs and skills through the job fair,” Acting Dole Secretary Danilo Cruz said in the same statement.
