Arroyo approves ID system

CITY OF SAN FERNANDO — Representative Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo laude the Pampanga Peace and Order Council’s recommendation to implement the barangay identification (ID) system to fight crime and monitor transients in the province.

Arroyo’s nod came after members of the Peace and Order Council discussed and proposed ways to reduce and eradicate the alleged growing crime rate in the province.

“Maganda ang recommendation to implement and use the ID system. It will not only be for identification but an ID for services also,” said Arroyo.

She said that the national ID system was proposed during her term as President but it was hampered by some “technicalities” that were elevated to the Supreme Court.

“We learned later na panalo pala iyun sa Supreme Court and a congressman from Cebu had started implementing it,” she said.
She added the ongoing ID system is based on how the Social Security System implements it. (Jovi T. De Leon)
