CLARK FREEPORT–State-run firm Clark Development Corporation celebrated its 20th year anniversary on April 3.
The highlight of their celebration is the awarding rites for the Most Outstanding Employee set on Friday.
To drum up the celebration, several activities were held including the CDC Job Fair event at the SM City Clark last week and the opening of the “Memorabilia” photo exhibit on Monday. Other activities include community service programs.
The “Memorabilia” exhibit featured 200 photographs of the CDC offices and officials since 1993.
For the community service projects, the employees have visited several institutions including home for the aged. They have also conducted feeding programs in Aeta villages and read-along programs for orphans.

History
CDC was established after the eruption of Mt. Pinatubo in 1991.
The Pinatubo eruption has forced American soldiers to pullout from Clark Air Base, which served as one of their bases from 1902. Their pullout from the area displaced about 20, 000 workers.
Clark Airbase was later converted into a Special Economic Zone under Republic Act 7227 or the Bases Conversion Act of 1992.
In 1993, Malacanang issued Executive Order 80 which authorized the establishment of CDC as the implementing arm of the Bases Conversion and Development Authority for the Clark Special Economic Zone (CSEZ). Meanwhile, Proclamation No. 163 identified the areas covered by CSEZ pursuant to RA 7227.
Clark was named after Major Harold Clark of the US Army Signal Corps. He was raised in Manila and was the first American to fly in Hawaii.
The first locator in CDC was PhilExcel Business Park which was established in 1993.
In 1995, CDC workers reached its first 10,000 mark.
In 1996, Japan-based Yokohama Tires opened a manufacturing plant here.
In 1998, Clark Expo (now Expo Filipino) was opened to serve as a centerpiece of the commemoration of the 100th anniversary of the Philippine Independence.
In 2004, CDC led renovation efforts of the Bayanihan Park at Clark main gate.
In 2007, Clark was granted Freeport status through Republic 9400. CDC workers hit 50,000.
In 2009, Texas Instruments opened its 800, 000 square foot assembly and test facility in Clark.
In 2011, Clark exports reached its first $2 billion mark.
In 2012, Clark has employed 70, 000 workers.
CDC is now headed by President and Chief Executive Officer Arthur Tugade.
