Cops heighten anti-crime drive in Angeles

ANGELES CITY – Five persons were arrested as authorities stepped-up their anti-criminality campaign in separate areas here including Barangays Sapalibutad and Pulung Cacutud recently, police said yesterday.

Police identified the suspects as Ace Adriano, 27; Abella Sunga, 21; Aron Sisono, 21; Martin Estorres, 24; all of Sapalibutad Resettlement Center and Jessie Manarang, 28, of EPZA Resettlement Area, in this City.

The suspects, police said, did not resist when pounced by lawmen in separate places for alleged robbery hold-up and rape offenses.

Police said Adriano, Sunga, Sison and Estorres were spotted by lawmen along the EPZA Road, Barangay Pulung Cacutud on board a tricycle with plate number 1938-RN suspiciously parked in a dimly-lit portion of the highway past 4 a.m. Sunday.

When confronted, policemen noticed one of the suspects clutching a ladies bag believed stolen by the group.

Police said one of the suspects tried to escape and avoid arrest but he was eventually cornered after a brief chase. A knife was seized from him.

Policemen took the bag from the suspects and recovered the items intact including an I-phone, 4-S Apple cellular phone, assorted personal belongings, pictures with nametag of a certain Merlyn Saligumba and cash amounting to Php400.00.

Saligumba, a resident of 850 Tanapayon St., Plaridel I, Brgy. Malabanias, Angeles City, rushed to Police Station 3 after she learned that her bag was recovered. She positively identified the suspects as the persons who robbed her at knife point Saturday evening.

Manarang, on the other hand, was collared by policemen after the suspect’s live-in partner filed acts of lasciviousness complaint against him.

Police said the suspect kissed and touched the private parts of his 14-year-old step-daughter in one occasion inside their residence.

The alleged sexual molestation, police said, was noticed by the victim’s younger brother who immediately told their mother.

The victim was escorted by her mother to a nearby police station and filed criminal complaint against the suspect.
During confrontation, authorities seized a plastic sachet containing dried marijuana leaves.

All the suspects are presently detained at Station 3 as criminal complaints have been filed before the City Prosecutors’ Office.
