Guv: Identify evacuation centers

CITY OF SAN FERNANDO — The Provincial Government of Pampanga instructed on Friday the Municipal Disaster Action Officers (MDAO), Municipal Engineers and other members of the disaster management councils in various municipalities to identify areas which can be used as evacuation centers.

Governor Lilia Pineda made this call following the pronouncement of the Department of Education (DepEd) officials that public schools could no longer be used as evacuation centers during calamities.

She encouraged disaster management officials during a meeting at the Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction Council (PDRRMC) to look for an alternative places which will serve as evacuation centers in emergency cases.

Pineda, along with executives of National Housing Authority (NHA), inspected potential evacuation centers in the province as part of the Provincial Government’s disaster preparation.

This includes unutilized NHA properties in several properties in Barangays San Isidro in Magalang town, Telepayong in Arayat town and two separate lots in Floridablanca town.

The governor said she is planning to construct temporary shelters with basic facilities and amenities.
