Health centers get BP apps, nebulizers

STA. ANA — The 14 barangay health centers of this town received nebulizers and blood pressure apparatuses from Councilor Rhodora Concepcion-Nacpil on Monday as part of the committee on health’s promotion of preventive measures against lifestyle diseases.

Nacpil, who led the distribution of the equipment in front of the Municipal Hall here, said that Mayor Rommel Concepcion was instrumental in the acquisition of the equipment. The barangay health centers received two units of blood pressure equipment each.

“This is part of our ongoing program to teach our people to be more responsible about their health, to check on its status and to prevent common lifestyle diseases with constant exercise. These equipment form part of our commitment to keep our health centers ready for the task,” Nacpil said.

Nacpil said that her committee is still advocating to the public simple preventive measures involving personal hygiene, such as covering of the mouth when coughing, regular hand washing, avoiding crowded places, avoiding contact with sick persons and staying at home when one is sick.

As being advocated by the Department of Health, Nacpil reiterated the importance of maintaining a “Healthy Lifestyle: Stay healthy; eat less fat less salt, high fiber foods; avoid alcohol and drugs; do not smoke tobacco; avoid stress; get enough rest and have a regular exercise.”

Nacpil said that a comprehensive health program on disease prevention will be launched by her committee in the coming weeks. (Ian Ocampo Flora)
