Pineda, Pampanga mayors fund police offices’ rehab

CITY OF SAN FERNANDO – Gov. Lilia Pineda and the 21 mayors of Pampanga will allot at least P50 million for the improvement of police offices and equipment as part of the renewed campaign against all forms of crimes.

This, according to Pineda, after her recent meeting with the mayors of Pampanga’s 19 towns and two component cities.

Pineda said the funds will come from the intelligence funds of the mayors and her office.
She added that they will also slash at least P1 million each from her yearly P5 million subsidy to the municipalities and cities.

Pineda said they will work for the major rehabilitation of main offices of police and the creation of more satellite units to ensure visibility and quick response of cops.

Pineda said they will also purchase vehicles, firearms and other necessary equipment for the police personnel.
“It depends on what each city or town needs,” Pineda said. She said the funds could also be used for buy-bust operations against alleged drug pushers.

Pineda earlier created police offices in key areas in Pampanga used as exit points of suspected criminals who are fleeing the province. They are in Mabalacat City and Apalit.

Pineda also tapped some 10,000 barangay tanods to help the some 1,000 Pampanga policemen ensure peace and order in the first-class province.
The governor and police provincial director Senior Supt. Oscar Albayalde hosted seminars and lectures to teach the village cops on how to properly arrest suspected criminals and report their illegal activities.
