Police: Statements of Ram’s sister, girlfriend contradict

Manila (Updated 3:35 p.m.) — Police investigators said testimonies of Ramona Revilla, who was tagged in the killing of her brother, contradict the statement of Ram’s girlfriend who was shot in the face but survived.
Ramona, who was charged with being an accessory to the crime, initially said she was abducted after two masked suspects broke into the Revillas’ home and fatally shot her brother, Ram, at close range.
But Janelle Manahan, Ram’s girlfriend, testified to the police that she saw Ramona entered the room then the gunman followed.
Ramona said she was dumped by the suspects near a mall along Alabang-Zapote Road in Las Pinas where she was found by a security guard and responding policemen in a state of shock.
She failed to identify the suspects because they were wearing a “Halloween” mask, though she was able to describe one as 5’7” tall, wearing a baggy pants and a jacket.
Task Force Ramgen, however, believed that Ramona faked the abduction to cover up the crime, adding that Ramona has reported about her abduction but failed to report the slaying of his brother.
The police earlier said they would wait for an arrest warrant for Ramona, which will be issued by the court.
Ramona, however, can choose to surrender if she wanted so that inquest proceedings will be carried out at the prosecutor’s office.
Three other suspects at large identified as a certain Glaiza Vista, Norwin “Toto” De La Cruz and a certain Bryan can also do the same.
Police already have in its custody Ramon Joseph, the brother of Ramgen and Ramona, Michael Jay Altea, and Roy Francis “Kiko” Tolisora.
RJ, Ramgen, and Ramona are the children of former Senator Revilla with Genelyn Magsaysay, who immediately absolved her children from any wrongdoing.
Family’s disbelief
Expressing disbelief over the developments of the case, Senator Ramon “Bong” Revilla Jr. wanted authorities to reinvestigate Ramgen Revilla’s murder.
Senator Revilla believes his two half-siblings are ‘incapable’ of orchestrating the crime.
“This is too much for the victims and the future victims who are innocent,” the senator said after the funeral of Ram at the Revilla Mausoleum in the Angelus Eternal Garden in Imus, Cavite.
Charges of murder and frustrated murder were slapped against Ramona, RJ, and five other people before Assistant City Prosecutor Leah Roma of Parañaque City last Tuesday in connection to the October 28 incident.
P1-million monthly allowance
Probers are looking into the alleged disagreement over a P1-million monthly allowance from their father as possible motive in Ram’s murder.
The amount was allegedly to be shared by the nine siblings and was purportedly being handled by the victim, the eldest.
Senator Revilla Jr., speaking for the Revilla clan, called the developments in the murder case shocking.
“This is a tragic death made even more tragic by the fact that a family member is being implicated,” he said.
The senator said, however, that the charges against RJ should be proven “beyond reasonable doubt,” adding statements implicating his half-brother must be validated and “not taken on face value alone.”
“We call on Task Force Ramgen to make sure that the result of the investigation must not lead to irreparable damage to the innocent, especially to their family members,” he added. (AH/Virgil Lopez/Jonathan de Santos/Sunnex)
