Suspected carnappers killed in shootout

CAMP OLIVAS, Pampanga ¬- Two suspected carnappers were killed during a running gun battle with lawmen along MacArthur Highway in Barangay Sumapang Matanda in Malolos City, Bulacan, Friday night, police said yesterday.
Supt. David N. Poklay, Malolos City police chief, said that the still unidentified suspects forcibly took a Yamaha Mio Amore motorcycle from Indian trader Rami Alkhadra in Barangay Catmon in Malolos.
Reports said the victim immediately reported the incident to the barangay hall of the Sumapang Matanda. The barangay officials flashed the report to the police.
Poklay said a police mobile team from the Malolos City police station and a team from the Provincial Public Safety Company (PPSC) headed by Supt. Fitz Macariola chased the suspects and spotted them near the transmitter station of Radio Veritas along MacArthur Highway.
“Instead of stopping, the duo fired at the pursuing lawmen. The policemen returned fire, resulting in the death of the two suspects,” the report said.
Police recovered the stolen Yamaha Mio motorcycle with plate No. 6191 IT, a .38-caliber revolver without serial number, five pieces of live ammunition, and one caliber .22 machine pistol without serial number.
Scene of the Crime Operatives (SOCO) from the Bulacan Crime Laboratory Office also found assorted pieces of improvised pick lock, screw driver and vice grip, and a green pouch containing a Nokia cellular phone with two SIM cards, a copy of Certificate of Discharge from the Bulacan Provincial Jail in the name of Jeffrey David who was detained for violation of Republic Act No. 6539 in Criminal Case No. 3198M-2008.
The bodies of the suspects were brought to a local funeral parlor, police added.
